In many cases, borrowers write a post-dated check (check with a future date) to the lender; if the borrowers don't have enough money in their account by the check's date, their check will bounce. In Texas, payday lenders are prohibited from suing a borrower for theft if the check is post-dated. One payday lender in the state instead gets their customers to write checks dated for the day the loan is given. Customers borrow money because they don't have any, so the lender accepts the check knowing that it would bounce on the check's date. If the borrower fails to pay on the due date, the lender sues the borrower for writing a hot check.[33]
The first thing to consider with personal loans for veterans is the available loan amount, repayment period as well as the associated interest rates. The amount you are allowed to borrow must be enough for your needs. Some providers may offer you different payment periods and it’s for you to decide what you want. Nevertheless, you must realize that shorter terms come with lower interest rates and higher periodic payments. On the other hand, you will pay lower monthly payments if you choose a longer term but you will also end up paying higher interest rates.

Horrible! I think this is a scam. I should've known better and looked them up. I gave them all my banking info and personal info. when I applied. They said they would get back to me in 24 hrs. It's been almost 7 days now. There is no human being who answers their 800 number it just says to email them. I've sent numerous emails with no response. I put fraud alerts on my credit reports in fear they are going to do something with my personal info. Going down tomorrow to close my bank acct so they can't fraudulent take money from my acct. stay away from this lender!

Retired military personnel who served over 20 years or were medically discharged often can get help from aid organizations tied to their service branch. For instance, the Army Emergency Relief program gives grants and no-interest loans to those who can document a financial need. The group has provided about $600 million to soldiers and veterans since 9/11.

There are several lenders offering personal loans for veterans and active members of the military, even those with bad credit. Unsecured loans up to $40,000 are available and interest rates range from as low as 4.99% to 36%, depending on your credit history. Military spouses and dependents also are eligible for financial assistance. Personal loans can be used for any purpose, whether it’s paying off credit cards, buying a new car or a home improvement project. In most cases, you can apply online and expect an answer in less than 24 hours. Some lenders have special rates for military, but restrictive conditions – approved credit score, direct deposit checking account, etc. – must be met to qualify.
